Who are we?

The Moreton Bay Seafood Industry Association (MBSIA) was established in 2001 to assist with management of regional issues affecting fishers in Moreton Bay. It is an incorporated association that has approximately 80 members (as at July 2007), a chair, vice-chair, board and Chief Executive Officer. Representatives of each fishery and area of Moreton Bay form the MBSIA board. It is through the board that goals and objectives for the region are established and management issues dealt with. The MBSIA board has regular contact with the QSIA and Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (DPI&F) representatives to ensure consistency in fisheries management across the State.

Our membership base includes commercial fishers, their business partners, employees and families, deckhands (assistant fishers), seafood retail businesses, other supply-chain businesses that support the Moreton Bay seafood industry, seafood industry associations and other organizations and individuals who support the objectives of the MBSIA.

(Flyers, brochures and posters are available on request for members to use in shop-fronts.) Bi-monthly meetings are held to discuss issues affecting the Moreton Bay seafood industry – please contact the MBSIA office (see below for details) for dates, times and venues for these meetings.
