About the Survey MBSIA in conjunction with masters student Audrey Garcin, are conducting a short survey to determine how effort is shifting following the Moreton Bay Marine Park rezoning. The survey involves two parts: Part A - Mapping of where fishers worked before and after the rezoning, and Part B - Short questions about time, income and catch before and after the rezoning.
Part B of the survey can be completed online, in person, or on a paper copy that will be sent to members. If you complete Part B without MBSIA present, please fill in your contact details so that MBSIA can contact you to organise doing Part A - Mapping. All personal details will be removed when mapping is completed so that your answers remain anonymous.
About Audrey Garcin My name is Audrey Garcin and I am conducting a study on the shift in fishing effort and production following the Moreton Bay rezoning. I am a student at The University of Queensland where I completed my studies in the field of ecology and marine biology. Currently I am finishing my postgraduate studies in environmental management by doing a project in collaboration with the MBSIA (Thank you to Linda and Sam!). Why am I interested in your fishery? Like you, I believe that actions are urgently required to achieve a sustainable fishery not only by respecting the environment but also by understanding the socio-economic, cultural and political aspects of the fishing industry. Through my research on the shift of fishing effort and production following the Moreton Bay rezoning, I hope to gain useful data for you and your commercial fisheries representatives. Thank you in advance for participating in my survey and I look forward to meeting you to conduct the mapping. If you have any questions about the study do not hesitate to contact me.
